
DRIVING THEORY TEST
The Theory Test consists of 50 multi-chose questions. These questions are based on the Highway Code and road safety matters and are taken from a bank of around 1000 questions set by the DSA.
You can not take the practical test until you have passed the theory test. Although you can start lessons.
The test lasts 57 minutes and you will need to answer at least 44 questions correctly in order to pass.
The cost of taking the test is £28.50. This includes the hazard perception test. You will not receive a refund if you fail!
The theory test is taken using a touch screen computer. Before the test begins you will have a fifteen minute practice session. During the test only one question will appear on screen at a time and you will be able to navigate backwards/forwards through the questions changing answers if necessary.
You must take to the theory test centre your signed driving licence and suitable photographic ID, or both parts of your photo card licence and your appointment card or booking number.
There are over 163 theory test centers throughout the UK. For a list of them ask your Mini Drive Instructor or call the dsa info line - 0870 0101 372.
If you fail you will have to wait a minimum of three working days before you can take the test again. You can however apply to take the test the day after your initial failure.
The current PASS RATE for the theory test is 62.9%.
